Cabin Boy Knits creates naturally dyed yarns with a simple vision: to bring together everyone who touches a piece of wool on its way to becoming something — and to nurture friendships along the way.
We commit to best practices for a sustainable environment and responsible production from the first fibre to the finished skein. The same principles, ethics and values that guide the making are the ones we hope you feel when a skein lands in your hands: the merit and the pride of the next step in your own creativity.

How a skein is made
Four commitments, start to finish.
Fibre
Sheep-friendly farms, eco-friendly mills
Sourced locally and nationally first — and occasionally from afar when a breed calls for it. Every label names the breed.
Dye
Foraged, grown, or organic from afar
Goldenrod, black-eyed Susan, white spruce and sumac from the woods and garden; onion skins from the kitchen; indigo, cochineal and madder from trusted organic sources.
Water & heat
Rainwater, snow and sunlight
Collected when we can. Skeins dry in the sun and the wind outside the cabin.
Tools
Recycled and reused
Pots, racks, jars and materials given a second life — a limited footprint on the world is the whole point.
